Henan is a province deep in central China. Many Chinese refer to the province as the midlands. China itself is named in Chinese as the ‘middle-country’, so Henan is the centre of the centre. The province has a rich cultural heritage and although you may not know the province, you will almost certainly know a small building within its borders; the Shaolin temple.

Henan has a mild temperate climate similar to that of the UK. IT is a seasonal climate consisting of hot and humid summers and cold, dry winters
Things to see and do
Henan province has a number of sites for stunning instagram pics and travel stories that will last a lifetime. In addition to the obvious Shaolin temple mentioned above, Henan is home to the Longmen grottoes. The Longmen grottoes are a buddhist site containing an incredible 100,000 plus Buddhist relics with impressive cave carvings, statues and decorations. Visiting the grotts immediately reminds you of how far away you are from the west.
Food and drink
Henan is famous for its absolutely delicious ‘Dao xiao mian’. These noodles are served with in soup, usually with a generous helping of numbing spice and are great comfort food especially in colder weather.
